Onkle Philipps
A wee trip to Berlin and meeting a good friend lead us to a great toy shop which had ourselves and our son captivated. Everything piled up on top of each other. Secondhand mingling with new. Free basket of bits and bobs to take at the door. A real aladdins cave for anyone interested in toys.
It’s a cramped small space but we spent a lot of time rummaging through it. As we made our very cheap purchases it was suggested to us by Onkle Philipps that we should look at the toy museum in the basement. 1euro each and we could get it back if we weren’t happy with what we saw. I think it’s probably free to a lot of people but hey we took the risk. We went into tiniest hole in the floor down steep steps which could have been made for toys themselves and entered a wonderful cold room full of toys lit up in glass cabinets. I kept getting these flashbacks of my childhood as old toys from my past sat there getting on with their day. My particular favourite was to find a family of tiny dolls in a bathroom. I have the very same doll at home in my drawer one of my most treasured possessions. Apart from the beautiful coolness of the basement as it sure was hot outside we well got our value for money. We where down there for quite some time taking pictures and getting overly excited. Delightful apart from a buzzing bluebottle who seemed to be as excited as us.
